Frequently Asked Questions
General
Yes, bookings for atelier and tailoring services are booked online. Additionally, all of our classes and workshops can be booked online.
Yes. We recommend parking along The Terrace or in the nearby Coles car park, both of which are just a short walk from the studio. As we are located within a shared commercial precinct with regular deliveries and business traffic, these options tend to be the most convenient for visitors.
In many of our classes and sewing sessions, you're welcome to bring along your own garment to work on. If you're unsure whether your project is suitable, get in touch before booking, and we'll be happy to advise.
At present, The Sewing Collective is not fully wheelchair accessible and does not have dedicated accessible facilities on site.
Creating a more accessible and inclusive studio is something that is important to us, and we are currently exploring options to improve accessibility in the future.
If you have specific access requirements, we encourage you to get in touch prior to your visit. Where possible, we will do our best to discuss suitable options and upcoming workshops that may be able to accommodate your needs.
Our street address is 70D The Terrace, Ocean Grove, tucked away behind the main street. Head down the driveway beside Ocean Grove Cellars and follow the dirt track through to the back. The studio is located on the left-hand side.
As the studio is by booking only, we have specially designated Open Studio Sessions that you can book. This is a dedicated time and space to work on your own sewing projects in a welcoming, creative environment. Bring along a garment you're making, an alteration you've been putting off, or a project that's been sitting unfinished at home, and enjoy access to the studio, sewing equipment and guidance from Soriya when needed.
Bookings + Cancellations
Where possible, we would love it if you could give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment or attendance at a class or course.
You are welcome to email us at contact@thesewingcollectivestudio.com.au
As places in our classes and events are limited, bookings are non-refundable if you are unable to attend. Your booking reserves a space that cannot always be filled at short notice, and materials and preparation are often purchased in advance.
If you know you can't make it, please let us know as soon as possible and we'll do our best to help where we can.
In the unlikely event that your class or event is cancelled, you'll be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another session.
Classes + Workshops
This will vary depending on the class. Any materials or tools you'll need will be listed in the class description and included in your booking confirmation.
Absolutely! Many of our students have never touched a sewing machine before, and we offer beginner-friendly classes just for you, designed to help you build confidence and skills at your own pace.
We're always open to hearing from makers, artists, educators and creatives who feel their workshop, course or event would be a good fit for our community and studio space. If you have an idea you'd like to discuss, we'd love to hear from you. Simply get in touch with a few details about yourself and your offering, and we'll be in touch if it feels like the right fit.
